The Lord Mayor's Show has passed off without disruption, despite the procession going past a protest outside St Paul's Cathedral.
Minor alterations were made to the route and the new Lord Mayor, Alderman David Wootton, who usually receives a blessing on the cathedral steps, was blessed in a different location at the central London landmark.
Colourful floats and military bands led the procession past thousands of people who lined the streets along the route.
A handful of Occupy London demonstrators wore masks and held up banners as the march went by, and some made the peace sign at members of the Army, Navy and RAF.
The Lord Mayor's show, a spectacle which is 800 years old and three miles long, goes from Mansion House via Bank, St Paul's and Fleet Street to Aldwych, ending up at the Royal Courts of Justice.
An alternative event , Not the Lord Mayor's Show, was organised by the protesters.
