A south London police officer who was dubbed “the world’s best dancing cop” after videos of his moves went viral is tonight appearing on Britain’s Got Talent.

PC Dan Graham first won fans in May last year after more than 1.5 million people watched a clip of him busting some impressive dance moves while in uniform.

The popular Kingston cop was nicknamed “dancing Dan” and many admirers urged him to apply for a place on ITV show Britain’s Got Talent.

Nearly one year on and PC Graham is set to appear on the hit show as audition for the talent competition airs on Saturday evening.

Preview photos from tonight’s opener shows PC Graham, 33, on stage in his full Met uniform smiling at the judges.

Another picture shows judge David Walliams wearing PC Graham’s police hat, after the policeman dances up to the comedian and places it on his head.

The police officer told the Standard: "I auditioned for BGT in the hope that I can show a human side to the police and try to break down some barriers.

"I love dancing and since my viral videos last year I got some great feedback. It showed that there is a lot of support for us out there which I think police don't always realise.

"I can't wait for tonight and I hope everyone enjoys seeing my audition"

On Saturday morning, Kingston police shared a video of PC Graham walking down some ornate stairs next to a large banner for Britain’s Got More Talent show.

In a tweet the borough police force said: “We’ve been keeping a massive secret from you all. Tune into @BGT tonight to see what our very own @PCDanGraham gets up to.”

The policeman first became an internet sensation after being featured in a video made by Met officers taking part in the “running man challenge” craze.

The challenge saw police forces around the world filming dance routines, during which they try to pull off the “running man” move – to the music of 1996 Ghost Town DJ’s song My Boo.

PC Graham, who is part of Kingston Police’s 999 response team, drew in more views after a follow-up video caught him performing in a dance-off with a pig for charity.

The PC and the man dressed in a pig costume was part of a 24-hour non-stop dance-a-thon in aid of Macmillan cancer support.

Britain’s Got Talent starts on Saturday evening at 8pm on ITV.
