Hunt for bailed terror charges man

12 April 2012

A man on bail for terror charges is on the run, Scotland Yard has confirmed.

The man, 24, due to face trial later this year, is accused of a number of offences including conspiracy to cause explosions and conspiracy to murder.

It is believed that this is the first time a UK terror suspect released on bail has gone on the run.

Channel 4 News said that the man, who has not been named, had left a suicide note which was found by his family.

He was on conditional bail and was allowed out every Friday to a mosque to pray, but disappeared during the visit, the programme said.

His relatives found the suicide note and raised the alarm.

A Met police spokesman confirmed that a 23-year-old man had breached his bail conditions but refused to comment further.
