Groom ends big day in cells after DJ spat

12 April 2012

A groom spent his wedding night in a police cell after rowing with the DJ at the reception. John Dalton, 47, was led off in handcuffs by 15 officers as a police helicopter hovered above.

Bride Julie, 44, spent the night alone in the honeymoon suite of the Coventry hotel.

The Staffordshire couple said they had spent their £50,000 life savings on the day.

The DJ claimed he had been threatened after a row about the playlist.

Mr Dalton, later freed without charge, said the police reaction was “completely over the top”.
