A condom company faced backlash after appearing to tell customers to "go further without consent".

A confusing new design by personalised condom creators Say It With A Condom bears the words “go further without consent” in a playful font with the word “consent” in pink.

However, the words are placed next to a doodle of a donut supposed to represent the words "do not".

The well-intentioned but poorly placed design sparked outrage on social media.

Twitter users said the brand was trying too hard to be “down with the kids”.

One person said: "Maybe we shouldn't be making gimmicky jokes about consent."

Others pointed out the inappropriate nature of the light-hearted wordplay given the serious subject matter.

Say It With A Condom told Cosmopolitan that the design went through their usual feedback process without complaint so was sold on the site.

The brand added that they will now use social media accounts to ask customer about their thoughts on future designs.
