A Hampshire store described as "Britain's rudest shop" is to shut after 170 years of trading.
Palfrey and Kemp Fords in Lymington, Hampshire, has become infamous locally for its abrasive owners Terry Palfrey and Geoff Kemp.
Customers have found themselves thrown out of the shop or the focus of verbal assaults if they have rubbed them up the wrong way.
But now a sign has been placed in the shop window stating: "Britain's Rudest Shop is Closing Down.
"After170 years only a few weeks left to be insulted, don't miss the experience!!"
The premises, which have been used for retail purposes for 170 years, will now be turned into a Wetherspoon's pub.
Mr Palfrey, 63, told the Southern Daily Echo: "I have chucked people out of the shop on several occasions.
"Sometimes the other customers even clap because they enjoy it.
"Unfortunately there are a lot of people these days who don't have any manners.
"If it gets too bad, I'll tell them to get out - I just will not stand for it."
Mr Palfrey said what he hated most was people rummaging around in the neatly packed bed linen and leaving finger marks on the polished cutlery.
The proposed change to a pub prompted 900 complaints from local residents when it was being considered by the local council.
