Boy, 16, gunned down in Liverpool

A 16-year-old boy is in hospital after being shot in both legs.

The boy was gunned down in the Kirkdale area of Liverpool early on Saturday morning.

He has been taken to hospital but his condition is not believed to be life-threatening.

A spokesman for Merseyside Police said: "The shooting is not believed to be linked to any recent shooting in the Liverpool area.

"House-to-house investigations have begun, a full forensic examination of the area is under way, and high-visibility patrols have been stepped up in the area."

Anyone with information about the shooting which took place on Woodbine Street, Kirkdale, is asked to contact Merseyside Police on 0151 777 5469 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
