Tomorrow's Tube strike is set to spell misery for more than a million Londoners - but cricket fans are rubbing their hands with glee as they prepare to "work from home" during the second day of the Ashes.

Delighted commuters have taken to Twitter to express their excitement.

Des Markie (@desmarkie) said: "Tube strike today and tomorrow then train strike on Friday. Guess I'll have to work from home with the Ashes on telly then."

And Greg Double (@‏Dubstep1988) opined the unions had "timed this one brilliantly". "Oh no, I can't get in," he joked. "Looks like it's laptop and the Ashes for me."

Will Humphrey agreed, tweeting: "The correlation between the Tube strike and the Ashes starting is far too convenient."

Others suggested the industrial action provided the opportunity to brush up on other sports, too.

"Surely a tube strike is the perfect excuse to work from home and practice your putting stroke," tweeted Gareth Cater (@gcater73).

"I'm lucky my work are flexible," wrote KBfoodphotos (@‏kasiakatie), "sending me home at 3 today on orders to work from home tomorrow."

Iamtribe (@‏iamtribex) echoed her thoughts, tweeting: "The only good thing about this Tube strike is that I get to leave work early."

Others joked that even bus drivers should be offered the chance to work from home.

"TFL advise bus drivers to work from home during #TubeStrike #PS2 #XBOX," tweeted @EddieTheHamster.
