These stunning images show how stations along the £15 billion Crossrail route through London will look.

Artists' impressions were released showing stations including Tottenham Court Road and Paddington along the Elizabeth Line.

Developers say each station on the line will reflect its area's character.

Trains are due to start running beneath central London along the route from December 2018.

A full service, running from Reading and Heathrow in the west to Shenfield and Abbey Wood in the east, is due to start 12 month later and is expected to carry 200 million passengers every year.

Julian Robinson, head of architecture at Crossrail Limited, said: "The Crossrail project has worked with world-leading architects and designers to deliver a new railway that draws upon the fantastic transport architectural heritage of London and London Underground, with each station reflecting the distinct character of the surrounding area and presenting a common line identity."

Mike Brown, London's transport commissioner, said: "The TfL-run Elizabeth line will transform travel across London, reducing journey times, relieving congestion on the Tube network, and radically improving step-free access with brand new accessible stations."

Images of the stations will go on display at the Royal Institute of British Architects.
