These were the chaotic scenes in London as a 24-hour Tube strike hit the capital, with millions of commuters battling to get into work.

London’s major stations, including King’s Cross, London Bridge, Clapham Junction and Liverpool Street, were brought to a standstill.

Many disgruntled passengers took to social media to voice their frustration.

Joey Langran described the scenes at Clapham Junction as “absolutely ridiculous” while Alastair Smyth said it was “utter chaos”.

Tube workers walked out on strike at 6pm on Sunday for 24 hours.

They rejected a last minute offer from Transport for London as well as a plea from Mayor Sadiq Khan to call off the action.

The unions say over 800 jobs have been axed as ticket offices closed, claiming staff are being abused by passengers facing queues at ticket machines.
