The new Night Tube is set to be extended to a third line within weeks of being launched.

The all-night service will start on August 19 on the Central and Victoria lines, after agreement was finally reached with unions.

It is understood that the night Tube will be extended to the Jubilee Line from September 2.

Finn Brennan, district organiser of the train drivers’ union Aslef, said: “We welcome the hundreds of new jobs with decent conditions that were created by our action last year.

“We made sure it was brought in by agreement in a way that benefits existing staff and the new recruits.”

The new service was originally due to start last autumn but was held up because no agreement was reached with unions.

The Night Tube will be extended to other lines later.

A Transport for London spokesman said: “As the mayor announced last month, London’s first ever all-night Tube service will be ready on 19 August on the Central and Victoria lines.

“The start of night Tube services on the Jubilee, Northern and Piccadilly lines will follow in separate phases later in the autumn as new Tube drivers complete their training and final preparations are made.

“Around 200 part-time drivers are currently taking part in a 14-week training programme to make the night Tube a reality for London.”
