Commuters were today hit by fresh delays on the railways after amid continued chaotic scenes at London's major stations.

Services into London Waterloo were affected by delays and cancellations due to "poor rail conditions" between Petersfield and Havant in Hampshire.

The London Overground was closed between Willesden Junction and Clapham Junction due to an equipment problem.

And there were expected to be delays at Paddington throughout this morning after a person was hit by a train at Ealing Broadway in west London.

A person taken ill at London Bridge also led to further delays to trains passing through the station, after two days of severe overcrowding and delays there.

The disruption came days after higher rail fares came into effect.

Boris Johnson is tomorrow due to grill rail bosses over the problems at London Bridge.

The London mayor will meet Network Rail chiefs to demand a solution after more difficult journeys through the station for thousands of commuters yesterday.

The London Assembly’s transport committee is also demanding bosses from Network Rail and Southern trains go in front of them to explain how it will avoid similar delays and poor customer care for the next three years of refurbishment work at the station.
