Twitter threads are about to become much easier to plan and create.

The social media site is implementing its own tool for users to draft a series of connected tweets, aka a Tweetstorm, before posting them simultaneously.

‘Threading’ Tweets together has previously involved users replying to themselves, but the new function should make it easier for those less savvy with Twitter’s quirks.

The thread feature comes in the form of a ‘+’ symbol which appears above the keyboard when you begin to write a post.

Tapping ‘+’ lets users start a new Tweet, directly connected to the previous one. You can plan multiple tweets in advance.

“We’re thrilled to share that we’re making it simpler to thread Tweets together, and to find threads, so it’s easier to express yourself on Twitter and stay informed,” Sasank Reddy, Product Manager at Twitter, wrote in a blog post.

“We’ve made it easy to create a thread by adding a plus button in the composer, so you can connect your thoughts and publish your threaded Tweets all at the same time.”

Twitter called the arrival of threads “a nod to the creativity of the Twitter community”, and says the feature is being rolled out across iOS, Android, and in web browsers.

The threads tool won’t arrive on all accounts at the same time, but users can expect to find it “in the coming weeks”.
