Well, that was eventful. E3, the Electronic Entertainment Expo, has drawn to a close for another year, and it wasn’t short on major announcements.

From the Xbox virtual reality console Project Scorpio to the full unveiling of the latest Legend of Zelda Game, the week has brought a flurry of huge reveals from Microsoft, Sony, Nintendo and co.

Some were expected – new Gears of War 4 footage, another space-bound trailer for Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare – others less so.

Bethesda gave confirmation that The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is heading onto the current console generation complete with mods, Sony revealed that Resident Evil 7 will be returning to its oh-blimey-why-am-I-doing-this-to-myself horror roots, and we finally – finally! – got a release date for The Last Guardian.

As for the future of gaming, full virtual reality appeared more than ever to be the next major step.

Sony showed off the Star Wars and Batman VR games that will be available for the PS VR headset, while the aforementioned 4K VR console Project Scorpio from Microsoft boasts staggering power under its hood.

Most importantly, there was a treasure-trove of gameplay demos and trailers to get your gamepad-fingers twitching, with stunning visuals – Zelda and God of War, we’re looking at you – and enticing new original properties.

With so much to take in, we’ve picked the 30 must-see games from this year’s Expo. Now, how long until Gamescom?
