As anyone who’s watched Black Books or Spaced will know, Bill Bailey is at his brilliant best when he’s being properly geeky and a little bit weird.

He’s a perfect fit, then, for No Man’s Sky – the epic space exploration video game that’s just arrived on PS4.

In a new video, Bailey offers a hilarious commentary on the game – with a red crystal on his forehead, because why not.

The clip sees Bailey claim his own planet, Bill-topia, and ‘explore it for new species’.

Venturing out onto the bright red world, Bailey sets about naming some of the brilliant and bizarre creatures he finds.

Prepare to meet the ‘club-handed eagle bouncer-wombat’, the ‘giant spiney boot-mouthed combat duck’, and the ‘multi-eyed sentient marshmallows’.

“It's an extraordinary experience to roam around this galactic wonderland,” the comedian said. “You can lose yourself in new worlds, and the beauty and mystery of space.”

The game features 18 quintillion planets which are ‘procedurally generated’ by the stupendously complex coding, courtesy of developers Hello Games.

Players are tasked with exploring the galaxy and mining resources from the planets they visit to improve their equipment.

The title has been over five years in the making, with huge amounts of expectations from gaming fans.

A PlayStation statement warns: “Please note, Bill Bailey does not come free with the game.”
