As Sir Keir Starmer takes his place as the new Labour leader, vowing to "lead this great party into a new era", we take a look at the members of his new team.

The shadow Brexit secretary was voted into the top job on Saturday, after beating Wigan MP Lisa Nandy and Salford and Eccles MP Rebecca Long-Bailey.

Announced on Sunday, here are the members of the new leader's Shadow Cabinet:

Lisa Nandy, Shadow Foreign Secretary

MP for Wigan since 2010, Ms Nandy, 40, came third in the Labour leadership contest. She has been appointed Shadow Foreign Secretary.

She said: "It’s a real honour to be tasked with leading Labour’s foreign policy response in these difficult times. Thank you Keir Starmer for the opportunity to serve."

Anneliese Dodds, Shadow Chancellor

Ms Dodds, 42, has been the MP for Oxford East since 2017 and also served as MEP for the South East England region from 2014-2017.

She has been appointed Shadow Chancellor.

Prior to her appointment, she served in the Shadow Treasury Team of her predecessor John McDonnell as Shadow Financial Secretary to the Treasury.

Nick Thomas-Symonds, Shadow Home Secretary

Former barrister and MP for Torfaen since 2015, Mr Thomas-Symonds, 39, has taken over from Diane Abbott and said he would be focusing on the coronavirus pandemic as an "immediate task".

He has been appointed Shadow Home Secretary.

Rachel Reeves, Shadow Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster

Ms Reeves, 41, has been the MP for Leeds West since 2010 and served as Shadow Work and Pensions Secretary under Ed Miliband.

She has been appointed Shadow Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster - Michael Gove's counterpart.

Jonathan Ashworth, Shadow Health Secretary

MP for Leicester South since 2011, Mr Ashworth, 41, has been re-appointed his role as Shadow Health Secretary after serving under Mr Corbyn since 2016.

Angela Smith, Shadow Leader of the Lords

Ms Smith, 61, became Leader of the Opposition in the House of Lords in May 2015 and has kept her role under Mr Starmer's leadership.

Mr Brown, 69, MP for Newcastle upon Tyne East since 1983, has also been re-appointed as Chief Whip after serving under Mr Corbyn since 2016.

David Lammy, Shadow Justice Secretary

MP for Tottenham since 2000, Mr Lammy, 47, has been appointed Shadow Justice Secretary.

John Healey, Shadow Defence Secretary

Mr Healey, 60, has been the MP for Wentworth and Dearne since 1997 and served as Shadow House Secretary since 2016​ under Mr Corbyn until his appointmen as Shadow Defence Secretary.

Ed Miliband, Shadow Business and Energy Secretary

MP for Doncaster since 2005, Mr Miliband, 50, was leader of the Labour Party between 2010 and 2015, before Mr Corbyn took over. He served in the Cabinet under Prime Minister Gordon Brown from 2007-2010.

Ms Thornberry, 59, MP for Islington North and Finsbury since 2005, served as Shadow Foreign Secretary under Mr Corbyn.

She has been appointed Shadow International Trade Secretary.

Jonathan Reynolds, Shadow Work and Pensions Secretary

MP for Stalybridge and Hyde since 2010, Mr Reynolds, 39, previously served as the Shadow Economic Secretary to the Treasury.

He has been appointed Shadow Work and Pensions Secretary.

Rebecca Long-Bailey, Shadow Education Secretary

Ms Long-Bailey, 40, has served as MP for Salford and Eccles since 2015, and as Shadow Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy in Jeremy Corbyn's Shadow Cabinet since 2017.

She has now been appointed Shadow Education Secretary.

Ms Phillipson, 36, was elected in 2010 as MP for Houghton and Sunderland South.

Ms Debbonaire, 53, was elected as MP for Bristol West in 2015, and appointed as Shadow Brexit Minister in January this year.

She has now been appointed Shadow Housing Secretary.

Jim McMahon, Shadow Transport Secretary

MP for Oldham West and Royton since 2015, Mr McMahon, 39, has been appointed Shadow Transport Secretary.

Preet Gill, Shadow International Development Secretary

Ms Gill, 47, has been MP for Birmingham Edgbaston since 2017 and is the first British Sikh MP.

She has been appointed Shadow International Development Secretary.

Louise Haigh, Shadow Northern Ireland Secretary (interim)

Ms Haigh, 32, was elected as MP for Sheffield Heeley in 2015 and served as the Shadow Minister of State for Policing since 2017.

She has been appointed Shadow Northern Ireland Secretary.

She served as Shadow Defence Secretary in the Shadow Cabinet of Jeremy Corbyn.

She is now Shadow Women and Equalities Secretary.

Mr McDonald, 62, MP for Middlesbrough since 2012, previously served as Shadow Transport Secretary and is now Shadow Employment Rights and Protections Secretary.

Ms Allin-Khan, 43, has been the MP for Tooting since 2016 and served as Shadow Secretary for Sport between October 2016 to January 2020.

She is now Shadow Minister for Mental Health.

Lord Charlie Falconer, Shadow Attorney General

British Labour peer and barrister Lord Falconer, 68, has been appointed Shadow Attorney General.

He became the Lord Chancellor and the first Secretary of State for Constitutional Affairs in 2003 under Prime Minister Tony Blair.

He served as Shadow Justice Secretary under Harriet Harman and Jeremy Corbyn until his resignation from the role in 2016.

Valerie Vaz, Shadow Leader of the House

Ms Vas, 65, MP for Walsall South since 2010, has retained her role as Shadow Leader of the House, which she has held since 2016.

Lord Tommy McAvoy, Lords’ Opposition Chief Whip

Lord Tommy McAvoy, 76, has retained his role as Opposition Chief Whip of the House of Lords.

He was MP for Glasgow Rutherglen from 1987 to 2005 and then for Rutherglen and Hamilton West from 2005 to 2010.
