Olympic heptathlete Louise Hazel, designer Stella McCartney and singer Sharleen Spiteri, pictured above, left to right, were at last night’s GQ Awards at the Royal Opera House, where James Corden picked up the Editor’s Special Award.

Also winning plaudits was rapper Tinie Tempah, top right with Emeli Sandé, after winning the Solo Artist award. Michael Fassbender, meanwhile, so enjoyed the party that he skipped dinner.

“I’m sure it was good but I didn’t eat it,” the actor told me. “I ate a gin and tonic followed by a glass of wine.” Olympic cycling king Sir Chris Hoy was besieged by well-wishers. “People come up and say ‘I was watching you and was screaming at the television’. It’s lovely.”
