Simon Callow and his 'mighty erection'

Actor Simon Callow hailed the Shard last night as “a mighty erection” as he surveyed the view from the 69th floor. “When I came up here this afternoon I was literally moved to tears to see the city from up here, although I forgot one of the first rules of being an actor, which is not to be upstaged by the scenery.” Former Mayor Ken Livingstone was overheard in the lifts regaling a friend: “It’s a special night for me; I started this project so it’s nice to see it finished.”
