Prospero meets Iago in White House race

The ebullient Steven Berkoff displayed yet another talent at an exhibition of East End photographs at Whitechapel’s Cass Gallery.

Having contributed to the artwork, it transpires that Berkoff has been snapping away for years: “The East End markets were my playground. I felt I had to record it before it vanished.”

Berkoff, who spends much time in LA, has been pondering tomorrow’s US elections in typically dramatic form.

“Were I to get my hands on those two beasts I’d cast Obama as Prospero from The Tempest — ‘We are such stuff as dreams are made on’. For Romney, I’m tempted to say Macbeth but he’s not got the guts, so I’d settle for Iago. He’s part of the rotting Republican hierarchy and a breed of men who have no sense.”
