Politicians reveal where the sauce is

Hidden sauce: Boris Johnson
6 August 2014

Battle lines were drawn over The Londoner’s desk yesterday when news emerged that Boris Johnson keeps his tomato ketchup in the cupboard rather than the fridge. “Cupboard is fine,” he told Twitter during a Q&A.

To settle the dispute The Londoner carried out its own poll. “In the Farage household we keep the ketchup in the cupboard,” says Kirsten, Mrs Nigel Farage.

“We are pantry people!” says former Ukip MEP Godfrey Bloom.

Tory MP Kwasi Kwarteng: “The cupboard definitely, with the tinned stuff.”

But Tory MP Charlie Elphicke is in the cold camp. “In the fridge with the mayonnaise,” he says.

Over to Tory vice-chairman Michael Fabricant, who never does things by half: “Definitely cupboard. Never in the fridge. My jumbo Heinz bottle won’t fit.”
