Not so many years ago the Institute of Economic Affairs was the dustiest of think-tanks, a redoubt of highbrow Right-wing academics and pipe-suckers.

Perhaps it is time to review that image. The IEA’s Christmas party next week at its Westminster-townhouse headquarters will feature “live jazz, a few drinks” and a rabble-rousing speech from former Sun editor Kelvin MacKenzie. Arise, Kelvin, the wonkish philosopher.
