Newly installed director of BBC Radio Helen Boaden (salary £354,000) is included in this week’s first Radio 4 Woman’s Hour Power List of the most influential 100 women in Britain, headed by the Queen. But Delia Smith, Judi Dench and Helen Mirren, among others, are not. BBC sources say Boaden’s move from television to radio may explain why she was considered more powerful than some of her better-known sisters by the Radio 4 team. What a canny way to keep the new boss sweet.
