To the Samuel French bookshop in Fitzrovia for the launch of theatre director Michael Rudman’s new autobiography, I Joke Too Much. His partner Felicity Kendal was there with their son Jacob, pictured together. Michael and Felicity have had a rollercoaster romance: they married in 1983, divorced in 1990, then reunited in 2002 and are now happily cohabiting.

Michael admitted he was “nervous” about the reception his book would receive from his nearest and dearest. Felicity told us: “I made a point of not reading it. I just wanted to let him get on and do it. I hope to be surprised.”

It looks like, for now at least, it’s the Good Life in the Rudman-Kendal household.
