An eclectic mix unite for cancer care

Last night’s Masterpiece Midsummer Party raised £650,000 for Marie Curie Cancer Care, thanks to hostess Heather Kerzner and her black book.

Guests included Sarah, Duchess of York, with her daughters Beatrice and Eugenie, as well as Rolling Stone Ronnie Wood, fresh from Glastonbury.

Also attending was Hugh Grant, who had nothing but praise for the care the charity gave his mother.

“What she really wanted when she was dying was gossip,” he told me. “She knew all about the west London department of Marie Curie nurses and their boyfriends.” Grant added that he has just done a film, “which is most unlike me these days”.
