Adele joins the Chelsea set

New home: Adele
22 July 2014

Adele has millions in the bank and an awards cabinet full of Grammys and an Oscar, and now she seems to have the house to match. Rumour has it that the singer has a new home in Chelsea’s Cheyne Walk. The area has housed Laurence Olivier and Mick Jagger but some locals now have something to say about their new neighbour. One resident, twitching her curtains, told us about her surprise at the star’s laid-back style compared with the super-preened ladies of SW3.

Actually, surprise is a gentle way of describing the critique — it was an unrepeatable haughty riff about Adele’s clothes and class, and how she didn’t look the part for Chelsea. And then she sniffed: “We all hang out together as friends around here. But she doesn’t talk to any of us.” That sounds more like a bruised ego to us. Anyway, Adele’s talents are so highly-rated by music lovers that she’ll soon be able to buy the whole street.
