A woman cyclist is in a major trauma unit with "life-changing injuries" after she was hit by a car door while riding her bike this morning.

The woman, aged in her 30s, was treated for pelvic injuries after the collision in Greenwich this morning.

Police and medics were called to the scene, at the junction between Tyler Street and Trafalgar Road, at around 9.30.

A London Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: "We were called to reports of a collision between a cyclist and a stationary car.

"We treated a woman for pelvic injuries and she was taken to King's College Hospital's major trauma unit as a priority. She was conscious and breathing."

A police spokesman confirmed the cyclist was hit by a car door.

"At this stage it looks like she may have life-changing injuries," the Met said.
