Westminster Tube station remained partially closed on Thursday morning while police continued to investigate the terror attack that struck the heart of London.

The station was off limits for entry and exit, but commuters could interchange between Jubilee, Circle and District lines.

Buses in the area also continued to be disrupted throughout the morning in the wake of the attack that left at least four people dead near the Houses of Parliament on Wednesday afternoon.

A man mowed down pedestrians on Westminster Bridge before knifing a policeman who was guarding Westminster Palace as part of the Parliamentary and Diplomatic Protection Command.

Westminster Bridge remained closed on Thursday, and all entries to Parliament Square were closed off to traffic.

The killer, who was shot by an officer after he entered into Parliament’s gates, is confirmed to be amongst the dead.

Scotland Yard confirmed the stabbed 48-year-old officer Keith Palmer was one of five killed in the attack, with a further 40 people injured, including three police officers.

Spanish teacher Aysha Frade, 43, was also killed as she made her way to pick up her two children from school.

Parliament will reconvene on Thursday as MPs attempt to go about their daily duties less than 24 hours after the attack.

The sitting of the House of Commons was suspended after gunshots were heard, and MPs were told to stay in their chambers.

Members of the Met’s armed counter terror unit were deployed to Parliament and a swathe of the area was placed on lockdown.

The Prime Minister, in a speech given outside Downing Street last night, said Parliament would “meet as normal” on Thursday, and that Londoners “will get up and go about their day as normal.”
