London Underground workers have been praised after they wrote a moving poem paying tribute to terminally ill newsreader Rachael Bland.

The BBC Radio 5 Live presenter, who has days to live due to incurable breast cancer, has inspired many in recent months with her You, Me and the Big C podcast.

After her diagnosis in November 2016, she has also been documenting her journey on her blog Big C Little Me.

The poem was written on a notice board at North Greenwich station, and detailed how the mother-of-one's "amazing courage" has helped others cope with life's difficulties.

It reads: “We can all make a different with our time on Earth, and make the world a better place.

“Rachael Bland, you have done so much for so many people, with style, humour and grace.

“Even in death there is laughter to be found, you have battled cancer so bravely and with dignity.

“A brilliant mum, wife and broadcaster helping others to cope, showing amazing courage in the face of adversity.

“Nothing in life is certain, only we all face a final curtain.

“We are inspired by you and as your next adventure begins, please know you have changed the nation’s conversation with you story and inspiration.

“In every cancer battle it’s always love that wins.

“Everybody in the world needs to hear your voice and story, the podcast deserves to be number one in the charts.

“Your legacy will live on and inspire so many others, and you will live on in memories and so many hearts.”

Deborah James, one of Mrs Bland's co-presenters on the podcast, replied to the ‘All on the board’ Twitter account thanking the Tube workers for their words.

Fellow BBC Radio 5 Live presenter Rachel Burden also tweeted an image of the notice board, along with a heart emoji.
