Parliament will resume with tributes to a police officer killed in a terror attack which shook the heart of Westminster leaving five dead and 40 people injured.

The House of Commons and the House of Lords will carry out business as usual on Thursday just hours after the first pictures emerged of PC Keith Palmer who was stabbed to death outside the houses of Parliament on Wednesday.

The 48-year-old husband and father was killed in a bid to stop a knife-wielding terrorist crash through the gates of the historic building.

The suspect had already ploughed into crowds of tourists on Westminster Bridge as he launched the attack in a 4X4, which also fatally injured three members of the public, shortly after 2.30pm.
