Oxford Street’s Christmas lights will be unveiled on November 1st.

Silver lights and 445 golden baubles will adorn the world-famous shopping street to look like falling snowflakes. This year for the first time the street will be free of traffic for the switch-on.

The celebrities turning on the lights are yet to be announced but previous years have seen Cheryl Fernandez-Versini, Jessie J, Robbie Williams and The Spice Girls do the honours.

The switch-on, hosted by Capital FM and jewellery brand Pandora, will be broadcast on giant screens for shoppers to watch.

Steven Medway, Managing Director at New West End Company, said: “As the most anticipated Christmas event of the year we encourage families and shoppers to get into the Christmas spirit and enjoy both the tranquil traffic free Sunday followed by the spectacular lights switch on moment.”
