Disappointed ticket holders for the cancelled Oktoberfest London event have been warned not to expect refunds any time soon.

The company behind the highly anticipated event, Oktoberfest UK Ltd, has said that no refunds will be processed until after it has reviewed its legal position and "any legal steps taken thereafter have been concluded."

London's version of Munich's famous Oktoberfest was cancelled earlier this month, just 30 minutes before revellers were due to pass through the doors for the second night of festivities.

It later transpired that the event had been cancelled because strict safety guidelines had not been met, and Tobacco Dock, the venue where the event was held, said it agreed with the organisers to axe the remainder of the festival, which was due to run for four days.

In a statement, Tobacco Dock, said: “The decision was not based on guest numbers nor the nature of the event, both of these were well understood in advance, but on the management and operational systems and insufficient serving staff both in terms of numbers and experience that had been put in place by Oktoberfest UK."

The latest statement from Oktoberfest UK Ltd said: "Oktoberfest London invested significant time, energy and money to bringing the Oktoberfest Event to London, and the Event opened last Thursday evening.

"On Friday morning, the venue, Tobacco Dock, informed Oktoberfest London of their decision to not permit any further sessions of the Event.

"Oktoberfest London is currently in the process of reviewing its legal position. Until this review and any legal steps taken thereafter have been concluded, Oktoberfest London will not be able to comment further on this matter or process any refunds to ticket holders.

"Ticket holders are requested to keep hold of their tickets, and further information regarding refunds will be provided in due course."
