Met pays £425,000 to activist who had child with undercover officer

24 October 2014

Scotland Yard is to pay £425,000 to a woman left “violated” and “traumatised” after having a child with a man she later discovered to be an undercover police officer.

The woman, known as Jacqui, has a son with Bob Lambert, who was revealed in 2012 as a member of the now defunct Special Demonstration Squad which placed officers in deep-cover roles between 1968 and 2008.

She was one of several women taking action against the Met over officers like Lambert, whom she knew as “Bob Robinson” when she was a young activist in the 1980s.

The woman says she has been left receiving psychiatric care after learning of his real identity in 2012 — 24 years after the man fathered a son with her and then abandoned her and the child.

Scotland Yard apologised for the “pain and suffering” caused by the relationship.
