The M25 motorway was hit with severe delays as the weekend getaway began after a multi-car crash in Enfield.

There were unconfirmed reports of a person being trapped after the pile-up involving five vehicles near junction 25, the Highways Agency said.

Emergency services were called at 3.25pm and police, firefighters and paramedics remain on the scene.

Paramedics are assessing three patients for minor injuries, the London Ambulance Service said.

Two lanes going clockwise are currently closed with delays of about 30 minutes expected to last for at least another hour.
