Londoners are in for a final day of sunshine before the tail end of tropical storm Henri sweeps across the capital from tomorrow.

There will be light cloud over the capital for some of the day, with the sun breaking through in late afternoon.

Henri has been lashing the Caribbean and was today arriving on British shores, starting with Northern Ireland.

Met Office forecaster Craig Snell told the Standard yesterday: “On Sunday there are a few showers around but for the main bulk of the day it’s not looking too bad.

“But towards the end of the day it goes downhill with frequent spells of rain, and the wind also increases. The most unsettled spell for the south east looks like from the end of play on Sunday. Monday up to Wednesday looks quite unsettled.”

He added Londoners should “make the most” of the sunshine before the frequent spells of rain that will blight Sunday and the beginning of next week.

Downpours are forecast for tomorrow afternoon until Monday lunchtime, beginning again late on Monday night.

Later on Tuesday will be drier before the rain returns with aplomb on Wednesday, when it is set to be at its heaviest.
