A spectacular free public performance featuring giant illuminated puppets is being staged to mark the end of Lewisham’s tenure as London Borough of Culture.

The performance features as a part of LIT!, a three-day event being held in Beckenham Place Park that runs until Thursday which includes food, music and a family funfair.

On Wednesday 20 ft tall illuminated puppets will lead a light parade around the park accompanied by a samba band, with borough residents invited to act as light bearers.

The Dundu puppets tour the world “telling universal stories of togetherness”.

Mayor of London Sadiq Khan has announced that Croydon will be the London Borough of Culture for 2023.
