Kate and William hear of Mandela death at premiere of The Long Walk to Freedom

In a poignant twist to the death of Nelson Mandela, it was during the UK premiere of the Film Mandela: a Long Walk to Freedom at the Odeon Leicester Square, attended by Mandela's daughter Zindzi Mandela and the stars of the film Idris Elba and Naomie Harris, that the news of his death came through. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were told by an aide during the screening, and an announcement made to the audience at the end.
