Tributes were paid today to a “kind-hearted and loving” woman who was hit and killed by a lorry.

Jennifer Heskins, in her 50s, was crossing Hampstead Road near Euston Station when she was knocked down at about 11.50am on Friday.

She was pronounced dead on arrival at hospital.

The lorry driver stopped at the scene and has not been arrested.

Flowers and cards have been tied to a lampost near the scene of the accident.

A friend of Ms Heskins, who lived in West Hampstead, said she had been returning from a funeral with other friends when she was hit.

She said: “I felt physically sick when I heard. I was contacted by another friend who told me she’d died on her way to hospital.

“It was a really horrific accident. Jen was a lovely, kind person who was very kind-hearted, very loving and thoughtful. She will be tragically missed.”

Officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit based at Alperton are investigating Friday’s Hampstead Road crash.

Anyone who witnessed the collision, or the events leading up to the collision, is asked to contact the witness appeal line on 020 8991 9555.
