Former Girls Aloud star Kimberley Walsh has backed the Evening Standard's appeal to help sick children at Great Ormond Street Hospital.

The singer and actress, 33, who is currently appearing in West End musical Elf, said the whole cast is "proud" to support the Give to GOSH campaign.

Co-star Ben Forster, 34, who plays Buddy alongside Walsh's Jovie in the show, used a video message filmed backstage during a performance to call for people donate generously.

Celebrities including Johnny Depp and David Beckham have already thrown their weight behind the appeal.

Ms Walsh today said: “Everyone in the cast of Elf is proud to support the Evening Standard's Give to GOSH appeal.

“The work of the hospital really does change lives, but they need your help to keep making a difference.”

Elf, based on the 2003 Will Ferrell film of the same name, is currently running at the West End's Dominion Theatre.

A backstage tour of the show features in the Standard's online auction, which ends at 9pm on Tuesday, to raise money for Give to GOSH.

Groups of up to four, including two children, will have the chance to meet the cast after a spellbinding performance of the festive production.

The Evening Standard, along with sister titles the Independent, Independent on Sunday and i, is raising money for the hospital in four key funding areas.

Cash donated will help support for the Louis Dundas Centre for Children's Palliative Care, research programmes aimed at finding cures for rare diseases and a new specialist heart unit. Funds will also help the patient and family support programme at GOSH.
