A three-bedroom house is on the market but prospective buyers will have a problem viewing it.

The south east London home - up for auction tomorrow - has been completely obscured by an enormous overgrown tree.

Buyers will need to part with £450,000 to call the real life tree house their home – although they are warned it is in need “of complete modernisation”.

The three-storey house, on Ruthin Road in Blackheath, has three bedrooms, one bathroom, one reception room and a garage.

It is less than a mile’s walk from leafy Greenwich Park, although the new homeowners may soon be fed up with the sight of foliage.

The end-of-terrace house, which has Westcombe Park as its nearest station, is set to be sold by Savills on Tuesday.

One neighbour, Julia, from Dublin, who has lived opposite the house for 52 years, said she remembers the former occupant planting the garden flora "quite a few years ago".

The 82-year-old said the property had been empty a few months now but had been completely covered up for quite a while.

"There were loads of people here yesterday looking at it," she said.

"It was a lovely little house... it is a wonder the neighbours didn't kick off about it though," she added.

"I would love to see the windows."

Property website Zoopla lists the average value for property on Ruthin Road at £716,667.

On the property listing, Right Move says: “Internally the property is in need of complete modernisation, which provides the ideal opportunity for the purchaser to carry out works to their own specification.”

As well as the massive tree in the front of the garden, the home’s back garden is also 50ft long.
