A cyclist has died after being hit by a dust cart in west London yesterday.

He was taken to an east London hospital by London's Air Ambulance where he died this afternoon, Scotland Yard said. His next of kin have been told.

The truck driver stopped at the scene and was not arrested.

Detectives from the Met's Serious Collision Investigation Unit are investigating.

Appealing for witnesses to come forward, Detective Sergeant John Hartfree said: "The road would have been very busy at the time of the collision and I believe that a number of people would have seen the incident."

Anyone with information should call police on 020 8543 5157.
