A well-dressed cyclist stopped in his tracks to confront a group pro-China demonstrators, who were out on the streets of London to mark president Xi Jinping's visit to the capital.

The well-spoken man was captured on camera politely confronting the demonstrators, who were showing their support with Chinese flags and Communist Party of China (CCP) banners.

Addressing them directly, the cyclist, who was dressed in a suit and tie, says: "You've come here to express your right to freedom of speech, do you think that's a right that should be extended to everyone, in Tibet, in Beijing?"

He then explains his motivations for his spontaneous counter-protest, saying: "I care about human rights and democracy around the world, for every single human being.

"Your president is one of the greatest abusers of human rights in the world."

The man then goes on to tell the demonstrators that many people in England are unhappy with the welcome that Prime Minister David Cameron has afforded to President Jinping.

He tells the president's supporters: "So many English people are frankly disgusted with the welcome that your president has got in our country, that our prime minister will roll over and frankly do anything your president tells him for money.

"So many English people are disgusted by this welcome being given.

"Ordinary English people do not like your president and do not like China's human rights abuses."

Before cycling off again the man tells the group of supporters that he has been "disgusted" to see CCP banners around London during the president's visits, describing the organisation as one of the most "abusive political parties in the world."
