Couple seriously injured when car mounts pavement and wrecks phone box at St Paul's

A couple were seriously injured after a car ran on to the pavement at high speed and demolished a phone box near St Paul’s Cathedral.

The car was written off in the collision and the impact scattered wreckage over a wide area early yesterday.

A woman in her twenties and a man in his thirties were taken to the Royal London Hospital. The road between Ludgate Hill and Cannon Street was re-opened after a damaged power cable was repaired.
