Christian climate protesters arrested in Whitehall over whitewashed government building

Five Christian climate change activists were arrested in Whitehall on Monday in connection with vandalism at the Department of Energy & Climate Change.

A number of the group whitewashed the walls of the government building, painted over signs and spray painted slogans such as "Department for Extreme Climate Change".

The protesters, part of Christian Climate Action, planned the event to mark the start of the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Paris.

“We hope more Christians and others will be blessed with a holy rage, moved out of their apathy and led in love to prophetically resist climate ignorance and denial,” said activist Ruth Jarman.

Police moved in to arrest the five after approximately 15 minutes of painting and prayer.

The Department of Energy & Climate Change would not comment on the event.
