A party venue in Millbank Tower, which has hosted Princess Beatrice, Idris Elba and Pixie Lott, could lose its licence after a club night descended into “total carnage”.

The event at Altitude 360 saw men fighting with knives and bottles in violence described by a police officer as the most serious he had ever dealt with. A man brandishing a knife was knocked unconscious, bottled and “violently stamped on” by up to eight others during the sold-out club night by company Paravana Project.

The venue on the 28th floor of the Grade II listed skycraper boasts views across London and caters for corporate and private events. Eliza Doolittle and Tamara Ecclestone have also attended parties there and the Tory party has its headquarters in the same complex.

The Met Police has asked for the venue’s licence to be revoked in the interests of public safety after several people were seriously injured in the early hours of Easter Monday. A decision will be made at a meeting on Monday.

Licensing officer Pc Toby Janes said it was the “most serious incident of crime and disorder” he had dealt with during his time in police licensing.

He said: “A blood trail down stairs from the 28th floor was later found by police and suggesting an unknown victim has sustained serious injuries, possibly a stab wound.”

The disorder erupted when a man with a knife confronted a group of men. They beat him to the ground and stamped on him, leaving him with a broken leg and bleeding face.

This led to a series of fights with people arming themselves with bottles.

A second man with a “larger knife” intent on avenging his friend’s attack was seen chasing someone through the club.

Scared staff and customers barricaded themselves in a room. One man was hit over the head with a full bottle of vodka that smashed on impact.

The brawl moved outside the tower where men armed themselves with traffic cones and the man with the large knife chased them around a parked car. They fled when police arrived.

On the same night, a man was allegedly punched in the face, knocked to the floor and his Tag Hauer watch stolen. Documents also claim three men hit a female security guard, someone urinated on a table and a man wandered around “dripping with blood”.

A maximum of 550 guests were expected but up to 670 people may have attended the party, which had just eight security guards.

A spokesman said: "Altitude London can confirm it has received an application for the review of a premises license.

"Altitude London is a professional and well-run corporate hospitality venue and we are naturally disappointed with the decision to review our licence.

"We are liaising with our neighbours, the council and the police and we will continue to collaborate with the relevant authorities throughout the review process."
