A batch of potentially lethal arthritis drugs were stolen from a van parked outside a pharmacy.

Two men raided the back of the vehicle parked in Fore Street, Upper Edmonton, at 5.35pm yesterday afternoon, police said.

Six blue plastic bottles filled with drugs including Enbrel were stolen.

The drug is used by arthritis sufferers to relieve symptoms and can cause severe side-effects.

Each bottle contained 20 to 23 boxes of drugs and four pre-filled syringes filled with a dose of Enbrel.

A single box is valued at £1,100 and the estimated total value stolen is £151,000.

The van was transporting the drugs to Germany.

The men made off in a white transit van with the registration LA07 WUD, police said.

Police are warning anyone who may come into contact with the drug to avoid taking it, as it could prove fatal instantly regardless of where it is injected.

Investigating officers from Enfield Police warn anyone who has taken the drug to call the London Ambulance Service on 999 immediately.

Anyone with information is asked to call the police non-emergency line on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
