An estimated one million people have marched through central London calling for a People’s Vote on Brexit with eye-catching banners and placards.

The march kicked off at 1pm and saw people from up and down the country as well as MPs attending.

There were many creative placards and slogans hanging over crowds as people marched from Park Lane to Parliament Square.

Rowena Harkeleder, 82, travelled from Grassington in Yorkshire to be at today’s march and is representing 81 friends who could not make it.

She told the Standard: “I started two weeks ago and told people I’m walking on the march and said, ‘I will march for you.’

She and friends carried a banner which read: “Grannies Against Brexit”.

Saturday's demonstrations follow EU leaders agreeing to delay Brexit to give Prime Minister Theresa May a final chance to get her deal through Parliament.
