Jeremy Clarkson’s daughter, Emily Clarkson, has criticised her father’s recent attack on the Duchess of Sussex.

In his column for the Sun, the former Top Gear host unleashed a torrent of disdain against Meghan, admitting that he hates her “on a cellular level”.

He added that he dreams of “the day when she is made to parade naked through the streets of every town in Britain while the crowds chant, ‘Shame!’ and throw lumps of excrement at her.”

He also said he despised her more than he does notorious serial child murderer Rose West.

Clarkson’s comments, published in the Sun on Friday, December 16, in response to the Harry & Meghan documentary on Netflix, were widely condemned as “vile and disgusting”.

Posting on her Instagram Stories on Sunday, December 18, Emily, 28, wrote: “My views are and have always been clear when it comes to misogyny, bullying and the treatment of women by the media.

“I want to make it very clear that I stand against everything that my dad wrote about Meghan Markle and I remain standing in support of those that are targeted with online hatred.”

Earlier this week, Emily condemned Mail Online for its coverage of the duchess, saying: “This publication, and many like it, are hellbent on DESTROYING this woman.”

Who is Emily Clarkson?

Emily is a 28-year-old influencer, presenter, author and columnist.

She presents the Should I Delete That? podcast alongside fellow body-confidence creator Alex Light, where they discuss everything from eating disorders to online bullying.

The daughter of Jeremy and his ex-wife Frances Cain, she has 282,000 followers on Instagram and uses the platform to promote body positivity and feminism. She is particularly known for showcasing the damaging effect of Instagram filters on women’s mental health.

Emily has also been vocal against misogyny perpetuated by British tabloids and has spoken about her experiences with them.

She also founded the Have A Gos (HAGS) – a support group encouraging women to compete in “intimidating sporting events”. The group has organised marathons and fundraisers for the likes of The Eve Appeal –  a charity raising funds and awareness for gynaecological cancer research.

Emily has written two books, Dear Pretty Normal Me and Can I Speak to Someone In Charge, both of which focus on topics such as body image and social media’s impact.

She attended Rugby School, a private boarding school in Warwickshire, and her parents separated when she was 16.

Emily is married to London-based publicist Alex Andrew, and the couple are expecting their first child together.

What did Emily Clarkson say about her father’s column?

Jeremy Clarkson’s column was published in the Sun on Friday December 16. Emily posted a statement on Instagram two days later in which she distanced herself from Clarkson’s sentiment.

She told her 280,000 followers: “My views are and have always been clear when it comes to misogyny, bullying and the treatment of women by the media. I want to make it very clear that I stand against everything that my dad wrote about Meghan Markle and I remain standing in support of those that are targeted with online hatred.”
