BBC Proms presenter and Strictly star Katie Derham today said she was "delighted" after her daughter achieved a string of top GCSE results.

Natasha Vincent picked up three A*s and six As from independent school Brighton College on Thursday morning.

The 16-year-old scored the top grade in French, Latin and English Language, with As in subjects including drama, maths and science.

Derham, who was a finalist in the 2015 series of Strictly Come Dancing, said she was "delighted and so pleased for her".

Miss Vincent's success came as the overall A*-C pass rate for GCSEs fell dramatically following government reforms.

National results published on Thursday showed the proportion of students getting a "good" pass fell by 2.1 per cent and as much as 5.2pc in the subject of English.
