The capital’s top chefs today swapped their whites for pyjamas in preparation for going to work on Red Nose Day.

Cooks from The Wolseley, Colbert, Rex and Zédel rallied together in the kitchen of Brasserie Zédel near Piccadilly Circus to support the Standard’s campaign to raise money for London’s poor.

Everyone is being urged to get sponsorship for wearing pyjamas to work on March 15, as part of our Dispossessed Fund’s partnership with Comic Relief.

Lawrence Keogh, 47, head chef at The Wolseley, called on all Londoners to join in, adding: “Don’t be shy, you know you want to.”

Head chef at Colbert in Chelsea, Andrew Woodford, 32, from Wandsworth, said: “It would be great to see the city all join together and do something for a very good cause and don’t worry, you won’t look silly if everyone is doing it.”

Executive group pastry chef at Rex, Matthew Hayes, 32, from Hammersmith, said pyjamas were “surprisingly comfortable” for cooking. He added: “It’s a bit of fun and anything that helps people less fortunate than us can only be a good thing.”
