Two knife thugs have been found guilty after a 15-year-old boy was left with horrific injuries when he was slashed with a deadly Zombie Killer blade during the worst violence at Notting Hill Carnival in a generation.

Jordan Clarke, 20, and Eddie Mobele, 24, attacked and stabbed three young men with a 12-inch Zombie Killer knife at the August Bank Holiday carnival in 2016.

A 15-year-old boy was stabbed in the abdomen, buttocks and arm on Wornington Road at about 4.15pm and almost died from his injuries.

He had emergency surgery and was in hospital for two weeks after the attack. Police said he only made a good recovery thanks to the “skill of the surgeons” who operated on him.

A 16-year-old boy was then knifed in the stomach and a second 15-year-old boy was stabbed in the leg at about 5.10pm in Ladbroke Grove.

The second 15-year-old victim needed stitches.

The attacks were three of at least seven separate stabbing incidents which blighted the annual parade’s 50th anniversary and led to fresh calls from residents and community leaders to consider moving the event into a park where crowds can be more easily controlled.

More than 400 arrests were made across the two-day Bank Holiday street party in 2016. More than 300 arrests were made at the carnival in 2017 following a mass operation by police ahead of the festival.

One of the victims identified Mobele and Clarke from images posted on Instagram, while another described Clarke because of the distinctive scar over his left eye.

Two weeks after the attack, officers executed search warrants at their addresses and arrested the man and seized the Rambo knife which had been used in all three stabbings.

Clarke, of Adair Road, west London, was found guilty of three counts of causing grievous bodily harm and possession of a “zombie” knife following a trial at the Old Bailey on Friday.

Mombele, of Talbot Road, also west London, was found guilty of three counts of causing grevious bodily harm and possession of a flick knife.

They will be sentenced on Thursday, December 21.

Detective Inspector Driss Hayoukane, of the Met’s Notting Hill post-investigation team, said: “I would like to pay tribute to the bravery of all three victims of these horrendous assaults. They all stood up and gave evidence in court against their attackers.

“Sunday at Notting Hill Carnival is traditionally Children’s Day – a happy event to be enjoyed by thousands of children and their families – however, these two men came to Carnival armed with a ‘zombie’ knife and a flick knife, intent on seriously injuring innocent Carnival goers.

“During the trial, Clarke did not give evidence and Mombele gave evidence denying the offences and blaming Clarke for the assaults. One of the victims spent two weeks in hospital and it is only due to the skill of the surgeons that he has made a good recovery.”

The judge commended the investigation and in particular the officer in the case, PC Sam Hart, for her efforts in bringing Mombele and Clarke to justice.
